Once upon a time. . .

. . . in a land not so far away, there was a happy family who loved Jesus and lived together in harmony.  Daddy worked hard to pay the bills. He was respected by his community, appreciated by his church, and loved by his family. He cherished his wife in a way that everyone could see. Mommy worked hard too, raising the children and making their modest home a place of faith and fun. She was cheerful, generous and kind; together they raised their children with loving discipline. The children didn’t have all the newest clothes or the latest toys, but they knew they were loved, and they enjoyed being a family more than anything in the world. And most of all, God was at the heart of this happy family, and the Bible was read daily, studied and quoted as the resolution for every dispute, the comfort for every sorrow, and the hope for every longing.

But one morning, as Daddy was making room for the toys that were beginning to clutter the house, he misplaced his Bible in the attic. Things in the home seemed normal for a while, except that reading the Bible stopped as life got busier. Over time everyone forgot about the Bible, and gradually their happiness slipped away. Dad began to neglect his faith and his family, mom and dad grew impatient with each other and the children, and the harmony of their once happy home was replaced with envy, strife and discontent. No longer was God at the center of this family, for He had been replaced by selfishness. And sadly, they began to value the family no better than anything else in the world.

THOUGH NOT IN STORYBOOK FORM, OUR LIFE STORY IS BEING WRITTEN AS WELL.  ALMOST AT PACE WITH THE REST OF SOCIETY, CHRISTIAN FAMILIES ARE DISINTEGRATING--BUCKLING UNDER THE RELENTLESS PRESSURES OF MATERIALISM, IDOLATRY, AND SELF-INDULGENCE.  MORE THAN EVER BEFORE, CHRISTIAN FAMILIES NEED THE COUNSEL OF THE FAITHFUL WORD OF GOD.  IRON SHARPENS IRON WILL CHALLENGE AND EQUIP LOCAL CHURCH LEADERS AND FAMILIES WITH THE WORD OF GOD AND THE ENCOURAGEMENT FROM THOSE WHO ARE THOUGHTFULLY AND ACTIVELY ADDRESSING TODAY'S GREATEST NEED IN THE HOME: BUILDING GODLY FAMILIES.
